About Us

We are the Smith family and have lived at Stinky Bee Farm for 10 years!! Ryan is the family minister at a local church and has a PHD in Marriage and Family Therapy. While he loves the farm life, you will probably find him enjoying a cup of coffee and a book! He lovingly says "April owns a farm. I live on one." Ryan actually is a magnificent farm hand but his true joy is in the Lord and his family. Our two little boys adore their dad and their nightly routine of reading novels together. Ryan dedicates his speaking talent to bringing characters to life as he reads aloud to them! Born in Detroit and raised in Tennessee, Ryan has taken several paths before landing at Stinky Bee! From acting in live theater in Dallas to teaching and coaching in Mesquite for 11 years, his experiences have made for some hilarious stories!

Our boys love farm life and enjoy all of the projects we do and animal antics! When they aren't tending their chores they enjoy basketball, tennis, fishing, camping, reading, chess, riding bikes, going to church and playing with their buddies! Their ideas help shape our farm. Both are learning the art of horsemanship and are excellent Kitten Cuddlers! From the moment our kittens are born, both boys hold and tend the little ones until they are ready for new homes.  It has been a true blessing to see the farm shape their hearts, minds, and work ethic. Stock and Link love nature and adventure and being able to enjoy the farm with others!

April is our farmer guide, riding lesson instructor and Outdoor School teacher. She holds her teaching degree as an Early Childhood-8th grade generalist, GT , ESL as well as First Aid/CPR/AED.  She has had a passion for teaching and animals as far back as she can remember! Growing up in a small west Texas town, her days were spent with her siblings playing "teacher", helping out Pops with cotton fields, and obsessing over any and all animals! Her biggest interest was horses and learning all about them!! In 2002, she moved to Dallas and began a 12 year career in education. From Kindergarten to seventh grade, she loved engaging students with creative lessons! Her role as "stay at home mom" began in 2012 and now she is a full time homeschool mama, co-op tutor for Classical Conversations, active member at our church (VBS anyone??!!) and still spends her free time obsessing over ALL the farm animals....especially the horses!

The farm has grown over the years to include a variety of livestock. We have had our ups and downs but each animal has taught us so much! When we began our hobby farm, we really just had family and friends visit. Over time, more people asked to visit or to ride the horses and Stinky Bee Farm began to take shape. We are always growing and changing and each season brings new adventure!

At Stinky Bee Farm, we feel like it is a "Christmas Eve" kind of life! We hate to go to bed at night and we can't wait to wake up in the morning!  (Animals and coffee are great motivators!)
